What To Expect

I decided to create this for the sole purpose of ranting. I needed somewhere to voice my opinions. Many of you will not agree with me, but i'm not here for you; i'm here for me. You can expect anything to be said here. If I have an opinion, I will most likely rant about it. This is my little home away from home. This is where I put my thoughts into words. You can also expect lots of grammer mistakes, and typing errors. I will do my best to look over what i am typing, but for the most part, I don't exactly care. I am not very old, therefore I am not very wise, so expect nothing magical and brilliant. Well, let this be the begining of my blog.

Make sure you follow! Also, comment with your opinions!

BP Still Doing What They Do Best....

Thousands of people who were hired to help clean up the Gulf Oil Spill are now becoming severely ill and or dieing. Lots of them are suffering from severe neurological damage. BP is denying all claims that it is their fault, or that the reason these people are getting sick is due to the oil spill.

One female, Jennifer Rexford is documenting her health as is degrades over time.

One of the videos:

Her channel: JMRexford

Guess it's just a typical oil company. Does not surprise me. How do all you feel about stuff like this?

Unfortunately there probably aren't studies that are comprehensive enough about the effects these sorts of chemicals have on people. It's like radiation-they say you're able to take in a fair amount of radiation before you can see it on a cellular level but there still lacks a lot of data about the long-term effects of short term large radiation exposure. It's sad but even though it seems like common sense without the proper studies these people are probably SOL.

Unfortunate for all the people that have to work on the spill

I agree that this is very messed up but I am not sure about potential alternatives. You could I suppose give control over fuel to states instead of conglomerates. But I doubt that would solve much. What we need is a cap on income at certain levels. Whatever is "profit" for the business goes into making it cheaper for citizens to buy fuel and to go into a "rainy day" fund so that when another oil spill happens those cleaning up the mess will be properly protected with hazmat suites etc.

But if you think it is bad for the humans, what about all the animals that would be stuck in the actual oil without semi-protective gear.

If they are going to have all this extra money, what they really should do is hire several tug and tanks with water vacs that can suck up all the oil at the source while escorting the barge from place to place.

This is terrible. But I really can't get my head around how that has not been done enough to protect the people who had to clean this stuff up. I'm thinking suits, masks, gloves etc.

hate BP for it

@Greener

The government needs more control over corporations. More laws and limits, etc.

I don't understand why people like, for example, Oprah, who have billions of dollars and love helping people, don't donate more money to alternative fuel research. We get electric, solar, whatever cars out there, and these companies go bankrupt and their executives hang themselves.

Gajewa469 said...

Ugh. It's really unfortunate...especially all of the animals as well!

tortoracer said...

cant they just sue bp and get everything into light?

Alessria said...

This is really terrible to see, first these people were most likely put out of work by this damn company, now they're suffering physically by them. Pretty damn sad.

Yeah, BP is just doing what they like to do. Nice video by the way

Unfortunate and really puts BP in a bad spot, not that I feel bad for them

Jesus fucking Christ man, I hadn't heard about this until now. I'm surprised it's not all over the news

Yeah, it's unfortunate the power some corporations have. Great post, I'll definitely be following you to see what else you come up with.

This shouldn't be happening... get your act together BP.

Terce said...

It's just like any big corporation to do this. Deny all liability and claim everyone was there on their own accord. Unfortunately without any sort of paper trail companies like BP and any others in this situation will continue getting off the hook.

Handling those kind of products is always a health risk, whether BP knew it and did nothing about it is something we might never know

Oscar said...

BP will always have fresh excuses.

jamierod.rodriguez said...

After all their promises that the oil spill would pose no health risk, did anyone really believe otherwise? Between the controlled burns resulting in fumes that could cause all sorts of problems for the cleanup crews, along with the dangers to the natural wildlife...

Blair said...

Wow, that's crazy, the poor people that have to work on the spill.

MrBunni said...

First off , IM NOT DEFENDING BP, but the oil platform was made by an american company, i think they should also be held responsible. Ofcourse BP is the one that also f*****d up and should definetly pay for it. Still riduculous that she has to suffer.

In truth, I dont care for oil. Ofc i care for it in the buisness sense, and what BP did in this case for the workers are a classy Big Company exaple. Deny it- Pff, is all i can say

Jellybro said...

Wow, this is just.. horrible. These people try to clean up someone elses mess and suffer for it. Then they aren't even helped when they need it let alone even acknowledged!

@John,

Shona said...

I have to comment on this again;

She should have known better,
everybody was saying its toxic and all of that...

she knew what she was getting into,
and everybody else, she had a choice.

I'm not talking shit about her,
she does need to get her word out and all of that.

eXo said...

@Shona, she knew it was dangerous.

But no one had any idea THIS would come out of it.

Also, BP is not taking any responsibility for what they caused.

These are the people we need to THANK for cleaning up the oil, without them, holy fuck it would be bad.

Its the same as saying those few people trying to keep the Fukishima nuclear plant from going into meltdown should not receive any help later on when they get cancer. Which they most likely will. They have pretty much given there lives to help us.

Shona said...

You've got to be dumb to go around stuff that's happened before and people died..

if you want to bring up the explosion with the plant.. NOBODY should even go near it.. remember Chernobyl? that place is still to this day.. DEAD. When that explosion happened in Tokyo, nobody should be going to clean it up.. it's been dead end zone the moment it happened.

We've also had many oil spills happen all over the world... you should have known not to even bother going to clean it up, of course you're going to get infected by some crap...

Yeah sure, I feel sorry for those who go out there and try to do it, but I just wouldn't risk my own life cleaning up something that's already gone.

DD said...

sad. :/

naturalcauses said...

What a horrible story. BP probably doesn't even have enough money to fix all of the damage they have done, to the environment, animals, and people. Not that they will be quick to hand it out anyways without the government squeezing their fists open.

I heard a great quote on NPR that went something like this: "Even if that oil didn't spill, and it made it safely to the gas stations, and you burned it up in your car, it would still be a natural disaster." Awesome quote. We need to be done with fossil fuels once and for all.

Mars said...

That's depressing. I couldn't stand to watch it.

brsrkr said...

It makes me sick, they're not responsible as they say they are, ugh, if it doesn't produce money they won't do anything, pragmatism... Nice blogs, sad news, but interesting though, a must see i'd say, following!

eXo said...

@Shona

Not cleaning up an oil spill could do SO much damage to our world.

You kill off too many species of animals and the environment and it will makes its way up the food chain until humans our dead.

Also, the ONLY reason Chernobyl did NOT fuck the world up, is because courageous workers that paid with their life built a sarcophagus around it. If they hadn't of done that, it would have spewed so much radiation, it could have killed a good portion of human life.

If there is a total meltdown at the Japanese reactors, the workers HAVE to give their lives to build a sarcophagus around it OR me and you, could potentially die.

It's all about the externalities. If a company can get away with shirking the true cost of their actions, they most definitely will. It's happened time and time again, and the more deregulation there is the more likely these things are to happen.

I have to wonder just how "safe" all the dispersants they used were.

Ride a bike, plant your own garden, reduce your dependency on fossil fuels. If you want BP to pay, vote with your dollar and boycott their business.
